Getting Started with the New Production JDeveloper 11g

shay.shmeltzer | Oct 7, 2008 16:50 -0600

The cat is out of the bag, and it is a cool cat - JDeveloper 11g is now out in production and you can get it from OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/index.html

But once you got it what's the next step? Where do you start?
One thing you can do is review some of the online demos we created to show off some of the new features: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/viewlet.html

If you want to get your feet wet and try it out then you can start with the online cue-cards inside JDeveloper (linked from the Help->Start Page) and you can also try some of our step-by-step tutorials that are out on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html

Now that you tried some of the features you might want to understand what is going on behind the scene and how this wonderful ADF things works.
For this we have the ultimate developer guide, previously known as the ADF Developer Guide, and now called the Fusion Developer Guide - available from here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/index.htm
You'll also see there another developer guide dedicated to ADF Faces Rich Client.

Then if you have questions come to our online forum and ask - we promise to try and answer:
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=83

There are more demos and tutorials that will show up in the near future - so keep checking these pages over the next couple of weeks.

Enjoy.

Fusion Applications That Use ADF Faces Rich Client

shay.shmeltzer | Sep 30, 2008 18:10 -0600

One thing you rarely get to do at OOW as an Oracle Employee is actually attend sessions - after all you have your hands full with your own sessions, demoground and meetings.
So I didn't get to go to any of the sessions that showed of the work that the Fusion Applications development teams have been doing over the past year.

So it was a pleasant surprise to stumble over a blog post by Floyd Teter that linked to a set of screen shots showing off some of the Fusion Applications screens - check them out to see how Oracle is using ADF.

OOW and Oracle Develop - Where I’ll be

shay.shmeltzer | Sep 19, 2008 11:50 -0600

The next week is one of the busiest week of the year - it's the OOW week.
One of the nice things in this conference is the opportunity it gives us to directly meet with customers and get an insight into how they are using our tools.

So if you want to meet me, the best place would probably be the OOW demground.
I'll be in the JDeveloper and RIA booths (A25 and A28) in Moscone South at these times:

Monday 12-1
Tuesday 9-11
Wednesday 1:30-4

Beside those I'm also going to be delivering two hands-on labs about ADF Faces Rich Client (Session ID: S298890) on Sunday 10:30 and Tuesday 2:30 at the Marriott Golden Gate C1

And I'll be doing three sessions:
The limitations of JSF and how to overcome them (Session ID: S298685) - Tue 4 at Marriott
Nob Hill AB

A JDeveloper 11g and ADF Overview (Session ID: S298745) - Wed 11:30 at Marriott Salon 07

RIAs and Web 2.0 Development Made Simple (Session ID: S298739 ) - Thu 1:30 at Marriott Salon 04

See you at OOW.
